Hello families,

I am happy to share that we will be starting “Guest Reader” on April 11th. This is an opportunity for students to read a story aloud to the class. We have discussed what makes a good read aloud – here is our success criteria.
·       Using different voices (expression)
·       Speaking loud and clear
·       Choosing a short story (between 5-10 minutes – not a chapter book)
·       Showing the pictures
·       Reading fluently (this means practicing!)
·       Choosing a “just right” level

Students are able to choose a story from home or from the classroom to read aloud to their classmates. Students should be prepared to share their story on their designated Guest Reader day.

This is an optional activity. Students may choose to watch for the first month, and then may feel more comfortable sharing a story with the class in May or June.

I will send home a calendar each month so students can practice at home and be prepared for their turn. Thank you for helping your child to practice and feel comfortable and successful!

Thank you,
Mrs. Melindy
