Hello families,

Thank you all for joining your child for student-led conferences on March 10th and 11th to celebrate the amazing work they are doing in Grade 1! 

Photo Day

Tuesday, March 15th is Photo Day at Lake Bonavista School. Grades 1-6 will be taking class photos.

Lifetouch Photographers are following all of the safety guidelines. We respect the individual decisions of staff and students to wear masks. Please connect with your child's teacher with any information that will support us on picture day in regards to wearing masks. If you do not want your child to participate in class photos, please contact your child's teacher.

Word Study

During our Daily Language Arts rotations each student has been practicing mapping words with play-dough, building words with the Montessori movable alphabet and writing words with a whiteboard marker. Some of the Grade 1 students continue to work with CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words while other students are working on diagraphs (sh, th, wh) or blends (sl, gl, st, gr, sk).

    

Math Games

Each week we play math games in our Grade 1 classroom. Today we played a card game called 'Greatest Sum.' Ask your child how to play and maybe they can teach you at home!

St. Patrick's Day

The students in Room 8 will be having a celebration in our classroom on Thursday, March 17th! Students are invited to wear green or dress up for St. Patrick's Day. 

March 17th will also be Waffles & Chix Fun Lunch for those who ordered online through the Healthy Hunger website.

 Our Book Fair has started. The link below is active.  
 
We are pleased to be hosting a hybrid (In-School and Virtual) Scholastic Book Fair from Friday, March 4, 2022 until Friday, March 11, 2022.  
 
Each class will get an opportunity to visit the Book Fair on Monday, March 7^th or Tuesday, March 8^th. 
 
Your child will receive a Book Fair Wish List that they can fill in while visiting the book fair. This form will be sent home for you to view, if you would like to purchase anything from your child’s wish list you can choose to use the virtual book fair link (below) or initial next to the item you would like to purchase and send in exact cash in an attached envelope or baggy. Please note, that in-school purchases already include GST.  
 
Cash orders need to be sent in by Thursday, March 10^th.  
Online orders will be shipped to the school and sent home with your child when they arrive.
